Every company or
business is required to have their extinguishers maintenance on a regular
basis to insure
its proper operation.
NFPA
10 states "fire extinguishers must be maintained annually in accordance with
local, state and national codes and regulations. OSHA 1920.157 (e) (3) states
"employers shall assure that portable fire extinguishers are subjected to an
annual maintenance check"
Hawkeye Fire & Safety has been serving Eastern Iowa since 1979 as a fire

service and knowledge. Fire extinguishers are an important element of a fire
response plan for any business, industry or home. We are factory trained in
inspection techniques for all types of hand portable extinguishers. |

We have two locations where you can bring in your extinguishers to be serviced.
We can do them while you wait or you can call our 24 hour mobile fire
extinguisher service vans and we can service your extinguishers right on site.

Monthly, quarterly, annual or semi-annual inspections are provided.
Bar coding
extinguishers is another service we can provide our customers. Inspectors will
code, tag and inspect the equipment and provide the company with a computer
generated document assessing maintenance management activities.

Hawkeye Fire and Safety is a
full service recharge facility for all of the following hand portable
extinguishers and wheeled units:

We have 24 hour mobile service
vans to service you at your location or we have 2 locations available to serve
you.
RECHARGING:
Recharging an extinguisher is needed if you use the extinguisher for
any fire. If you only use some of the agent in the tank, you will still need to
refill or recharge it.
Six Year Maintenance:
Per NFPA 10, a dry chemical stored hand portable extinguishers must
have a six year maintenance. Your extinguishers must be emptied and subjected to
a full internal inspection and then refilled.
When our service technicians need
to take your extinguishers out of service we will provide you a loaner to
provide you with continual protection.
Hydrostatic Test
Maintenance:
Per NFPA 10 - all extinguhers
must be hydro tested at periodic intervals.
- Dry Chemical is 12 years
- Halon
CleanGuard is 12 years
- Water Pressure is 5 years
- CO2 is 5 years
