Regular maintenance of fire extinguishers is not only essential for safety—it’s also required by law. According to NFPA 10, “fire extinguishers must be maintained annually in accordance with local, state, and national codes and regulations.” Similarly, OSHA standard 1910.157(e)(3) states that “employers shall assure that portable fire extinguishers are subjected to an annual maintenance check.”
